Holders of a bachelor's or master's degree, or legal equivalent, in the areas of Veterinary, Zootechnical, Agricultural and Biological Sciences or related fields are eligible to apply for admission to the Master's Degree in Equine Sciences. Those who have an academic, scientific or professional curriculum in the field of production and use of equines that is recognised by the Scientific Committee of the Master's Degree in Equine Sciences as suitable for attending the study cycle may also apply for the MCE.
The MCE programme lasts 4 semesters (2 years) and comprises a total of 120 European transfer credits (ECTS). It consists of a 62 ECTS course and a 58 ECTS dissertation.
The curricular component (1st year) will be taught on Thursdays between 4pm and 10pm, Fridays between 9am and 6pm and Saturdays between 9am and 1pm.

Organisation
The MCE is coordinated by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, but has the formal involvement of two other University of Lisbon schools, the Faculty of Human Motricity and the Higher Institute of Agronomy.
Partner Institutions
The Master's in Equine Science also has the valuable collaboration of two important entities in the sector, the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art (EPAE) and the Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP), whose contributions will be a significant asset in terms of the use of equines and the organisation of their sporting component.

Operation & Schedule
The Master course takes place over 2 years (4 semesters), comprising a total of 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). It consists of a curricular part, during the first year, and a second year where students will carry out a curricular traineeship with the aim of developing their practical skills and consolidating their knowledge through the preparation of a dissertation and its public defense.
The Master's degree will be awarded to students who obtain approval in all the curricular units of the study plan. Students who successfully attend and complete all 1st year curricular units, corresponding to 60 ECTS, will be issued a Postgraduate Certificate in Equine Science. The curricular units of the curricular component will also be offered as isolated units, in accordance with the Portuguese legislation and internal regulations, and may be credited by FEP (Federação Equestre Portuguesa) and IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude) for coaches continuous training.
The curricular component (1st year) will be held on Thursdays between 4pm and 10pm, on Fridays between 9am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 9am and 1pm
