INTEGRATED MASTER DEGREE IN VETERINARY MEDICINE

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Its Plan of Studies integrates the evolution of knowledge in this area and welcomes the European indications for the teaching/learning of Veterinary Medicine (Directive 78/1027/EEC and 2005/36/EEC) and the recommendations resulting from national and international assessments.

It has a strong practical component, from experimentation in the basic disciplines, to the use of simulation models in the propaedeutics and the clinical component trained in the Teaching Hospital and associated livestock farms (in an ambulatory regime). The Integrated Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine (MIMV) aims to provide high-level, research-based veterinary medicine training, at the end of which its graduates will possess the following general competences

a) Know how to apply knowledge and the capacity to understand and solve problems in new situations, in wider and multidisciplinary contexts;

b) To be able to integrate knowledge, deal with complex issues, develop solutions or pass judgement in situations of limited or incomplete information;

c) To be able to communicate conclusions, and the knowledge and reasoning underlying them, in a clear and objective manner;

d) To develop competences that enable life-long learning in an autonomous manner;

e) Care for the health and well-being of animals

f) Contribute for a sustained, competitive animal production, respecting the environment;

g) Protect mankind from zoonoses

h) Guarantee the quality and safety of food products of animal origin.
